LEVERANT, OSCAR
On June 8 at 7:55 in the morning, Oscar Leverant at the age of ninety passed away. Oscar was born in Boston, Massachusetts on October 11, 1914. He was the son of Anne and Samuel Leverant.
Oscar is survived by his beloved wife of sixty years Pauline Krell Leverant; son, Marc and daughter-in-law Isobel and their children Andrea and Alex; daughter, Heidi and son-in-law David Nov and their children Jonathan, and Benjamin; daughter, Rebecca and son-in-law Jonathon Collopy and their children Andrew and Ariana; sister, Sarah Medros, brother, Harold.
Oscar was a simple, kind; and generous man who aspired to achieve and actually lived the American Dream. Oscar used to say with a twinkle in his eye and a grin on his face, “Just call me
Lucky.” In 1946, Oscar opened a fabric business in Phoenix, Arizona. Through hard work, determination and personal integrity he built a thriving Fabric Business. After selling his fabric business and retiring in 1974, over the next 20 years Oscar helped each of his three children to open their own successful fabric stores. Oscar leaves behind a flourishing 59 year and counting fabric legacy.
Oscar served his country in World War II as a master sergeant under General McArthur.
He served his community as a Mason and a Shriner through El Zaribah, temple in Phoenix Arizona. As a personal hobby and God given gift, Oscar created and tended to Rose gardens throughout Arizona and Southern California. Oscar and his beloved wife Pauline Leverant have been members of Congregation Beth Israel of San Diego since 1974.
